A collection of three talking books and associated activities with speech support written, illustrated and narrated by Bernsey. Meet the Riverside Playmates - Abigail the raccoon, Freddie the otter, Daisy the frog, Lewis the heron, Willie and Mattie the two little ducks and some of their other friends in these three delightful stories, beautifully illustrated and brought to life in Bernsey's unique way.

Stories from the Playmates includes three talking books. Each page links to a choice of a simple sentence building exercise or an open ended writing exercise featuring the illustration on the corresponding talking book page.

The Surprise features Lewis the heron who helped the young animals when they were in trouble and found them a safe new home. The grateful young animals decided to reward Lewis for his kindness.

Freddies Snooze features the adventures of Freddie the otter when he dozed off whilst lying on his back blowing bubbles in the water. Freddie was stuck and scared - but thankfully, Uncle Bear came to the rescue and Freddie was so happy to be safe again.

A Gift for Daisy features the adventures of the young animals as they search for the perfect gift to reward Daisy the frog for her kindness. Everyone agreed that the daisy chain was a perfect gift for a frog called Daisy!

The background music was specially composed by Andy Pierce to complement the stories. By listening carefully to the music in the first story, children may be able to recognise some typical woodland noises including birds singing and a bough snapping. The other two stories feature bubbling and lapping 'watery' noises. The screens may be used with or without the music.
